There are a number of blood tests that can be used to assess heart health and risk of developing heart disease. These blood tests can be used to assess heart health and risk of developing heart disease. These include the cholesterol test, the high-sensitivity C-reactive protein test, the lipoprotein (a) test, the plasma ceramides test, the natriuretic peptides test and the troponin T test. These can be used to assess the heart function in totality. The most common ones are the High-sensitivity C-reactive protein test, the Lipoprotein (a) test, and the Natriuretic peptides test.

  • The Cholesterol Test: The cholesterol test measures the level of cholesterol in the blood. High cholesterol is a risk factor for heart disease. The high-sensitivity C-reactive protein test measures the level of inflammation in the body. Inflammation is a risk factor for heart disease. The lipoprotein (a) test measures the level of a type of cholesterol that is thought to be a risk factor for heart disease. It measures the quantitative presence of LDL or bad cholesterol, HDL or good cholesterol, and triglycerides in the blood sample.
  • The High-Sensitivity C-Reactive Protein Test: The High-sensitivity C-reactive protein test is used to measure levels of inflammation in the body. Inflammation is a key factor in the development of heart disease, so this test can be used to help assess the risk for cardiac disease.
  • The Lipoprotein (A) Test: The Lipoprotein (a) test measures levels of a type of cholesterol known as lipoprotein (a). It is believed to be a risk factor for heart disease, so this test can be used to help assess the risk for heart disease.
  • The Plasma Ceramides Test: The plasma ceramides test measures the level of a type of fat in the blood. High levels of plasma ceramides are thought to be a risk factor for heart disease. The natriuretic peptides test measures the level of a hormone in the blood that is involved in regulation of blood pressure. High levels of natriuretic peptides are thought to be a risk factor for abnormal blood flow throughout the body.
  • The Natriuretic Peptides Test: The Natriuretic peptides test measures levels of hormones known as natriuretic peptides. These hormones are released in response to heart failure, so this test can be used to help assess if the patient is at risk for heart failure.
  • The Troponin T Test: The troponin T test measures the level of a protein in the blood that is released when the heart muscle is damaged. High levels of troponin T are a marker of heart muscle damage and are thought to be a risk factor for heart disease.
